Teaneck & Blue Chip Chorus Celebrate 70th Anniversary!
Teaneck, NJ- On September 9th the Borough of Teaneck threw a party for the Blue Chip Chorus's 70th Anniversary. The Teaneck Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society received it's charter in 1945, and has been continuously active ever since then. All Alumni Members of the Chorus were invited to celebrate (along with current chorus members) at the Richard Rodda Recreation Center. State Senator, Loretta Weinberg presented Blue Chip Members with a NJ State Proclamation recognizing their committment to the Teaneck community and for keeping the art of a cappella barbershop singing alive. Members of the Teaneck Mayor's office and council were also present for the festivities.
Barbershop Harmony Society Member: The international organization of men whose hobby and passion is singing.
The Blue Chip Chorus of Bergen County, Teaneck Chapter is a member of the Society to Promote and Encourage Barbershop Quartet Singing Around the world [SPEBSQSA].
Barbershop Style Singing:
Tenor ♪ Lead ♪ Baritone ♪ Bass ♪
Four Part Harmony, which is usually sung "A Capella" (without instrumental accompaniment) and can be performed by a Quartet or by a Whole Chorus!
Overall, the sound is described as three harmony parts revolving around a melody.
